PRIVACY AND COOKIES POLICY

Advacheck OÜ, a company duly incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Estonia, with its registered address at Vesivärava 50-201, 10152 Tallinn, Estonia, hereinafter Advacheck, with its Software assists students, teachers, researchers, and employees around the globe in plagiarism detection and creates new opportunities in education.

  • Advacheck sets high standards in regards to the Privacy of its Users:
  • adheres to the highest ethical standards;
  • strives to stick to the strictest rules of confidentiality to deserve the trust of Users;
  • carefully protects the Users’ Personal Data;
  • uses Personal Data only established by operation of law.

This Privacy and Cookies Policy also referred to as Privacy Policy describes how Advacheck collects, uses, stores and protects the Personal Data by the above-mentioned standards, and what choices Users have concerning their Personal Data.

Definitions

The following definitions are given either within the meaning of Regulation (EU) no. 2016/679 of the European Parliament and the Council on the protection of natural persons about the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter GDPR), and taking into account the standards for the protection of Personal Data of the United States of America and Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or within the meaning and interpretation that established practice has assigned to such terms, definitions, and word combinations at work in the field of Internet technologies.

  1. Advacheck Services shall mean services on plagiarism detection provided under this Licensing Agreement.
  2. Site shall mean a set of web pages located on the Internet, united by a single theme, design, and a single address space of the domain advacheck.com and subdomains.
  3. User(s) shall mean person(s) who accesses the Site using the capabilities of the Site after completing the registration procedure.
  4. European Union Users shall mean Users who access the Site from the territory of the European Union and the European Economic Area.
  5. Data Subject shall mean an identified or identifiable natural person; an identifiable natural person can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
  6. Personal Data shall mean any information relating to the Data Subject.
  7. Cookies shall mean small bits of record-keeping text information that are automatically created and stored on the User’s computer or other devices to associate and identify activity with the User.
  8. Controller shall mean a legal person who (either alone or jointly or in common with other persons) determines the purposes for which and how any Personal Data are, or are to be, processed. For this Privacy Policy, Advacheck is a Controller of their Data.
  9. Processor shall mean any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Data Controller. Advacheck may use the services of various Service Providers to process their data more effectively.
  10. Processing shall mean a set of Processor’s actions about the Personal Data of Users, regardless of its location by the established goals.
  11. Materials (Documents) shall mean information uploaded by Users to the Site in the form of texts and files.

European Union Users and International Data Transfers

  1. Advacheck Services are global by nature. Advacheck may transfer, process, and store some of the Users’ personal information on Advacheck servers or databases outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Whenever Advacheck transfers any information, Advacheck takes measures to protect it.
  2. For this Privacy Policy, Advacheck divides Users according to the principle of applicable requirements for the processing of Personal Data. Users of the Site are divided into European Union Users and Other Users. For European Union Users the requirements of the GDPR apply.
  3. Advacheck may disclose Personal Data on a legitimate request from a public authority (for example, to satisfy national security or law enforcement requirements). Personal Data of European Union Users can be presented to the public authority only if there is a request issued in strict accordance with the requirements of the GDPR.
  4. Data transmission of European Union Users is possible only if there is direct express consent of European Union Users for such a transfer.
  5. Advacheck does not transfer Personal Data to any third parties, except for the cases stated in Section 3.
  6. In certain regions (including the European Union), users may request partial or complete deletion of their data or access to it by contacting Advacheck’s Data Protection Officer at dpo@advacheck.com. Advacheck responds within 30 days, with extensions up to two months if needed. Account deletion results in loss of access to most services, including account data.
